IBS was founded in 1988.

The formation of IBS was  supported by  two leading Russian universities: the Moscow State University  of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  (MGIMO) that specializes in  educating  diplomats and  international economic activity  experts,  and the Academy  of National Economy under the  Government of   Russian Federation, a recognized center  for preparing senior executives  for the country’s  economy.

IBS is the largest structural unit of RANEPA.

    1995 – the school is renamed as the Institute of Business Studies of the Academy of National Economy  (ANE) under the Government of the Russian Federation
    1998 – IBS launches a joint Executive MBA with UAMS (University of Antwerp), the first joint EMBA program in Russia
    2000 – IBS launches its  Master in Business Administration program)
    2002 – IBS launches the first Executive MBA program in Russia
    2006 – Dr. Ichak Adizes,  a worldwide  famous  management expert,  becomes the academic  advisor for the MBA program at IBS

  • The Institute of Business Studies of the Academy of National Economy (ANE)

    2010 – as a result of the merger of the Academy of National Economy  under the Government of  Russian Federation and  the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation  IBS is renamed as IBS RANEPA – the Institute of Business Studies of the Russian Presidential Academy of National economy and Public Administration.
    2011 – IBS opens a  new department -  the Department of International Relations.
    2013 –  IBS starts a new campus on Prechistenskaya embankment.
    2014 – IBS merges with the Graduate School of International Business (GSIB). DBA and  iMBA programs are launched.
    2016 – a new master program in International Relations and Eurasian Integration is launched.
    2018 – a new blended MBA is launched.

The history of RANEPA 

The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration  was founded by the decree (№1140  dtd  20.09.2010) of the President of the Russian Federation by merging the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation (ANE, created in 1977) and  the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the  President of the Russian Federation   (RAPA, created in  1991). The two merged Academies are famous for preparing  executives and senior managers both for business, and for government institutions. 

Today RANEPA is the biggest University of the humanities and socio-economic sciences in Russia and Europe.

    The Gaidar Forum  is one of the most significant international annual academic events in Russia in the area of economics. It has been  held by RANEPA annually since 2010.

    More than 300 RANEPA alumni are included in the «ТОП-1000 Russian managers» list.
