International Relations Department IBS RANEPA, Moscow

It’s been two months and a half since we left our comfort zone and came to the city of lights, art and love – to breathtakingly beautiful Paris. It was love at first sight. It is essential to mention that a rich historical legacy, outstanding artists and thinkers, amazing architecture and nature, fine wine and gourmet food make France a perfect place for any exchange student! What is more, Paris is indeed considered to be the European capital of business education.
We were happy to take risk and use this opportunity even though we have never been to France before, neither have we learnt French language. It has become a big motivation to learn one more foreign language as well as helped us to realize that challenges can be enjoyable.

There is a number of differences between Russian and French systems of higher education. The most significant one is that all the classes are practice-oriented, meaning that we don’t have lectures at all, but the basic principle here is learning by doing. Moreover, almost all of the assignments are supposed to be done in groups, which allows us to build a strong language of rapport with students from all over the world since the majority of them came from different parts of the globe, beginning with Asian representatives and ending with Latin Americans. By the way, this year we’re the only students from Russia.

This week we’re taking midterm exams that is why we’re intensively revising the material in order to make our home university be proud of its students. But when the exams are over we’ll have a holiday week and we’ve already made great plans for it.

Sending warm greetings from the most romantic city of the world,
Tatiana and Anastasia
